GROSSMAN BURN CENTERS STAFF
The nurses, therapists and other professionals that make up the Grossman Burn Center team are expert healthcare providers who are indelibly committed to healing and helping burn survivors.
NURSING STAFF
The Grossman Burn Centers' team of nurses and burn techs are dedicated to providing comprehensive and collaborative physical and psychological care to help patients and families through the long and challenging process of recovery.
Many members have been with the Grossman Burn Center for more than 15 years, and several over 25 years. These highly experienced nurses are well suited to mentoring those pursuing a career in burn nursing. The Burn Center participates in various college-level nursing internship programs. Through this preceptorship program, students receive a one-on-one experience and a unique perspective in the field.
DIETICIANS
Dieticians address patients' heightened metabolic rates and nutritional needs to provide the appropriate nutritional support needed for healing. Included in this is the goal to provide teaching and counseling for improved burn wound healing via better nutrition.
REHAB THERAPISTS
Rehabilitation therapists encourage patients' healthy physical function with the use of splints and exercises. They also assist in restoring patients' physical strength and mobility.
CHILD LIFE
At the Grossman Burn Center, a child life therapist provides support for burn-injured children and their families throughout hospitalization. Child-focused and play-oriented therapy addresses the trauma of the burn injury. Play and other forms of communication reduce stress associated with burn injuries. This type of therapy better enables children and their families to cope with the effects of burn injuries.
